I am a classically trained dancer engaged with movement and performing arts for more than 20 years—as a disciple, performer, choreographer, and teacher. Currently, I study and work in bharatanatyam with Malini Srinivasan in New York City, while training in Carnatic vocal with Roopa Mahadevan. I am a former member of Navatman Dance Company.
Yoga asana, meditation, and breath work complement all my movement practices. My approach integrates my lifelong training through Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, the Integral Yoga Institute, and Jivamukti-trained teachers.
As an artist and teacher, I work from the premise that storytelling and movement are intrinsically available to all of us, that our bodies hold our stories—and that life is improv.
Many other bharatanatyam teachers have been generous to share their knowledge with me, including Kala and Indira Seetharam, V.P. and Shantha Dhananjayan, Prasanna Kasthuri, and Sahasra Sambamoorthi—and my gratitude to all teachers carrying on these ancient traditions.
